My mom is so old fashioned! How do I get her to be a bit more lenient?

I'm not sure how old you are but do you have any aunts or uncles, your mom's brothers or sisters, that you can talk to and help you with this? How about any of her friends? You sound like a teenager and maybe adults she likes can help you negotiate.
